Generic operations

There are operations and corresponding web GUI views that are basically the same and can be described in a generic way. This is done in this chapter.

The search of an object of a certain type, e.g., user, application, etc., always follows the same pattern and has the same base elements in the corresponding web GUI:

  • An input mask showing attributes of the object to search. By specifying certain attributes, the result set of the search can be limited. If no constraints are provided, the search will return all objects of the underlying type.
  • After having triggered a search, the result table appears. It shows the objects that were found and certain attributes of each attribute. If the user required authorizations, the table will directly show the links to view the object's details, edit or remove it. Furthermore, the result table uses paging if more than ten objects are found.

Wildcard

The wildcard character (asterisk, *) may be used for string inputs. For example, if you search all users with the name *bla, all users having bla in their name are returned. The wildcard character is allowed at the beginning and/or end of the input string (but not in the middle, e.g., abc*xyz).

Search Limitations

The wildcard operator is not supported for all attributes. The following attributes do not support wildcard searches:

  • fixed lists or dropdowns;
  • date fields (e.g., Birthday, Validity);
  • credential hashes;
  • credential values for Kerberos ID, Secure ID and Safeword, Vasco Digipass token, generic credential identification or the MobileID MSSP & MSISDN; and
  • credential context.

History Filtering Limitations

Filtering on history screens is limited to support only the main entity. History events for related displayed entities cannot be filtered on the same screen. If you desire to filter history events of the related entities, navigate to the history screen of the corresponding entity directly. For example, for the user history screen only the user history events can be filtered. The shown history events of related entities credential, profile, and login cannot be filtered. If you want to filter profile history events, visit the profile history screen directly.
